Mudgee Rescue Squad’s new truck arrived recently and official donations are still coming in.
On Thursday Parsons Brinckerhoff employees at Xstrata Coal’s Ulan West Project presented $7100 to the Mudgee Rescue Squad. Parsons Brinckerhoff’s Ulan West Project Manager, Jeff Boylan, said the Mudgee Rescue Squad was the employees’ chosen charity for 2012.
“Our aim was to support a local cause so that together we can give back to the community,” he said. “Squad-trained volunteers provide land search and rescue.
“We thought it was a fitting charity as they also assist com-munity members in emergency situations and at local events.” Mudgee Rescue Squad secretary, Garry Dollisson, thanked companies and people in the Mid-Western region for their support. “Without these organisations and individuals it would not have been possible to reach our target of $105,000 for the new truck,” he said. “Donations have come from a number of organisations in Mudgee, both large and small, and with full support from the local community.”
The Squad has 15 accredited members and six trainee members. There is a need for new members, particularly aged volunteers. For more details visit www.mudgeevra.hwy.com.au Parsons Brinckerhoff has approximately 26 employees on site at the Xstrata Coal Ulan West Project.
